Implant-Guided Tenting of the Schneiderian Membrane by the Osteotome Technique without Grafting Materials: Literature Review
نویسنده
چکیده
Rehabilitation of the atrophied edentulous maxilla is complicated. Often the residual bone height is insufficient for implant placement due to crestal bone resorption and pneumatization of the sinus. The meticulous management of the available residual bone, the atraumatic sinus lifting procedure, and the proper selection of the implants are the keys to successful dental implantation in resorbed alveolar alveolar bone. Today, one of the most common ways to compensate for inadequate vertical bone height is to elevate the sinus floor by tenting of the schneiderian membrane by the implant which is guided by itself eliminating the need for bone graft. The Osteotome sinus-floor elevation in conjunction with implant placement is also possible in severely resorbed alveolar bone. Extensive and traumatic conventional lateral approach for the sinus lifting and the grafting procedures can be avoided even in the highly resorbed alveolar bone by using Osteotome technique. This paper consists of a review of the literature available on sinus membrane elevation with simultaneous implant placement without the use of grafting materials. This review shows that grafting materials are not necessary to achieve a high implant survival rate. Some advantages with the less invasive non-grafting method are a decreased patient discomfort and a shorter

Osteotome Sinus Floor Elevation in Severely-Resorbed Residual Bone and Immediate Implant Placement without Bone Grafting
Continuous advancements in the field of implant dentistry have provided clinicians with various treatment options to facilitate the placement of dental implants in patients with vertical bone deficits in the posterior maxilla. Today, one of the most common ways to compensate for inadequate vertical bone height is to elevate the sinus floor by tenting of the schneiderian membrane by the implant ...
متن کاملSinus floor elevation using an osteotome technique without grafting materials or membranes.
This retrospective study aimed to radiographically assess sinus floor remodeling after using a modified osteotome technique without graft materials or membranes. After pilot drilling, residual bone was fractured and raised with the schneiderian membrane to the final implant length using osteotomes. Self-tapping implants were placed, and restorations were placed 6 months later. Twenty-four patie...

PURPOSE A novel technique for transcrestal guided sinus lift elevation (TGSL), is described underlining the step by step surgical protocol. MATERIALS AND METHODS TGSL modified osteotome technique was planned by the NobelProcera(®) Software Planning Programm (Nobel Guide, Nobel Biocare AB) and performed by stereolitographic template. The depth of the planned osteotomy was determined precisely ...
متن کاملOsteotome-Mediated Sinus Lift without Grafting Material: A Review of Literature and a Technique Proposal
Implant rehabilitation of the edentulous posterior maxilla may be a challenging procedure in the presence of insufficient bone volume for implant placement. Maxillary sinus augmentation with or without using grafting materials aims to provide adequate bone volume. The aim of the present study was to systematically review the existing literature on transalveolar maxillary sinus augmentation with...
